Essential Information

Graphic designers are visual communicators who design and develop print and electronic media, such as POSM, magazines, graphics, logos and websites (landing page) etc. Candidates employed by advertising agencies, design companies, publishers and other businesses that need design professionals are favorable.

Graphic Designers have at least 2-3 year working experience. Portfolio must include the design concepts & final productions or hard copy.

Career Skills

Graphic designers should be artistic and creative and have strong visual and communication skills. Designers often work independently and must meet strict deadlines, so the ability to manage time and stay on schedule is important. Business and sales skills are also beneficial for this career, especially for graphic designers who are self-employed.

Typical activities
- Liaising with clients to determine their requirements and budget
- Managing client proposals from typesetting through to design, print and production
- Working with clients, briefing and advising them with regard to design style, format, print production and timescales
- Developing concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites
- Determining size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and font style and size
- Preparing rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief
- Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required
- Liaising with external printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality.
- Graphic designers work mainly 8 hours per day, but deadlines may require working additional hours
- Strong skill in Photoshop & Illustrator
- Be able to build concept & layout demo illustrations
